How we verify

Home Health Stars is compiled from public records, not from who paid to be listed.

Sources

• CMS Home Health Care Agencies (Care Compare) — Every Medicare-certified agency, its services, ownership, star rating and outcome measures. Published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

We load the full CMS Home Health Care Agencies file and publish every agency in it. The star rating is CMS's Quality of Patient Care rating (1 to 5). Outcome percentages are CMS's own measures — for example, the share of the agency's patients who got better at walking.

We do not adjust or re-rank CMS's numbers. Where CMS reports no value (usually because the agency served too few patients), we say so rather than guessing.

Order within a city: highest star rating first, then alphabetical. Featured agencies appear in a separate, labelled box and never change that order.

What a badge means

Medicare-certified: the agency holds an active CMS certification number and appears in the current CMS Home Health Care Agencies file. We only publish positive matches. A listing without a badge is not an accusation — most gaps are name variations between registries.

Freshness

Data was last refreshed on 2026-09-30. CMS updates this file quarterly; we re-pull it weekly.
